2015 winner of "The Longest Day" project quilt, Gwen Huenergardt along with Support Group members and project leaders.

Plans for the next “The Longest Day” event are under way.  There’s a site on the Alzheimer’s web pages where you can register to contribute, participate or both on the event of your choice.  Naturally, we would like you to support our local Carpinteria Team “Quilters Forever”.

Last year, after the quilt was built and tickets were sold, the team raised $3,100 out of which $1,100 were sold in Carpinteria and given to our group!  We hope that this project is even more successful this year.  Please go to, then click on “FIND A TEAM” and search for “Quilters Forever” in the first “SEARCH” box.  The result will show team leader Isabel Downs.  Click on the “VIEW” button and then on the “JOIN OUR TEAM” button.  If you cannot participate but want to contribute, select the “DONATE” button instead.

After the quilt is made, it is displayed at the "Roxanne’s A Wish and A Dream" craft store at 919 Maple Avenue for ticket sales on the last Saturday of each month during the Carpinteria Museum swap meet, until sometime in December when it goes up for the big raffle.  The quilt also travels.  It was displayed for ticket sales at several events in Santa Barbara, including the “Walk to end Alzheimer’s”.  Please join in this project to raise funds to help our group and especially the Alzheimer’s Association to directly aid those with this terrible condition and to conduct research to find a cure.
